Comfy and cute loungewear - At home style

- Loungewear -

comfy, cute, loungewear

When you’re stuck at home, there is not much to do but to wear cute and comfy loungewear. You seriously just feel better when you’re put together.

One day, my roommate, Cara and I were chatting before bed and just got on the topic of cute and comfy loungwear while we’re in quarantine. It feels like tie dye blew up overnight and everyone suddenly “needed” it. I feel like every store started selling comfy and cute loungewear. It was a message from above (not exactly….) to buy loungwear. So here we are, with a loungewear post.

I’ve always been a t-shirt and shorts kinda girl around the house or as my go to look for pajamas. Not anymore. Now I’m like OK how can I look descent at home?! Even when school was in session, I’d rather wear jeans than leggings. Obviously, I’m not going to wear jeans around the house, so now I’m all for the comfy and cute look.

I feel like I’ve found the best loungewear. Not to toot my own horn, but trust me, you’re going to want this all.

So first, there are loungewear sets. I’m all about the sets. You just feel so put together.

Here are my favorites:

Tie-dye sets are so popular right now. Tie-dye pieces are selling out so fast, everyone is trying to get their hands on a tie-dye set. I just feel like they’re so trendy right now but are going to die out. I may be 100% wrong, but I’ve been turning to the DYI bleach route of tie-dying. We took oversized black pullovers from Amazon and bleached them and they came out so good!

A local boutique by me in New Jersey has been blowing up online lately. If you’re local, you’ve heard of Hazel Boutique. They have oversized sweatshirts that are so perfect for being at home. They scream comfy, cute loungewear. I just purchased the two below.

Ski Trip - Winter escape to Warren, Vermont

This spring break I didn’t escape the winter weather, but in my eyes, nothing compares to a ski trip getaway to the mountains.

The running joke that Livi and I had all trip was that, “Cabo looks different.” Most college students spend their spring break by the beach, but I didn’t even think of it when I was in Vermont. It actually felt a little like Cabo when I was skiing because I was wearing four too many layers, I was SWEATING. Vertmont was 50 degrees, that’s unheard of for Vermont in March!

Livi’s family has a house in Warren, VT at Sugarbush ski resort. It’s a little under 4 hours from Quinnipiac and made for a perfect weekend ski trip getaway.

I haven’t done a ski trip in years with my own family, so being able to go with Livi and part of her family was so nice. I always tell people my favorite memories growing up are the ones spent skiing for the week with my family.

The weekend gateaway ski trip

We got to the house around dinner time and snacked liked it was the LAST snack we would ever have. We bought all these chips and candy bags for Livi’s cousins and friends. By the time they got there, they were gone. It’s spring break after all…I had no need for a beach bod.

That night we caught up with Livi’s cousins and his friends and played some games.

The next day I had to decide whether or not I was going to ski or snowboard. I had skiied my whole life and a few years ago I switched over to snowboarding (which I just never really got down pat). I didn’t want to hold anyone up so I went back to my roots of skiing and somewhat picked it right back up (kinda sorta).

After skiing, we went to a bar with live music on the resort which was so fun. Anyone who knows me, knows my love for live music.

That night we played more games, and I swear I’ve never laughed harder in my life at “What do you Meme?”

Sunday we decided to just go into town, walk around and shop. Then we were headed home for Sunday dinner with Livi’s family.

It was my perfect spring break ski getaway, and a nice time to unwind and relax before COVID-19 mayhem began. Please stay home with your loved ones and enjoy the time together. Pray for all of those who are counting on it and try to think positively. We will be OK, one day at a time..

Day in Rome

These posts aren’t going to be in any particular order, but since my fall semester has ended, I’m FINALLY getting around to Italy blog posts! I’ll do one large post going over all of my outfits from Italy after the travel posts.

It was such a great trip and I can’t wait to share all of my experiences and pictures with you..

So on this particular day we decided to take a day trip to Rome. Taking the train from Florence to Rome is super easy and quick.

Around 10a.m. we took a one hour train ride from Florence to Rome. We had about six hours in the city. Our first stop was a cathedral directly straight from the train station. Below are some pictures.

From there we stopped at a cute cafe, still very close to the train station. We all got mimosas and sandwiches and were able to sit outside, without rain. I say without rain because majority of our trip was spent outside in the rain. Italy’s winter is like a New Jersey’s fall, sometimes cloudy and rainy.

I was pretty committed to seeing ALL of Rome’s touristy spots in a few hours. If you’ve been to Rome I’m sure that sounds pretty insane…considering Vatican City is extremely far from the Colosseum. But, we did it all. I’m not much of a museum person, at all. I didn’t mind just seeing these tourist spots. I know if my Mom goes back she’d want to go inside some of these places, but with just a few hours, it was impossible to do a bunch of tours.

Summer activities

Summer is the prime season to do fun summer activities with friends and family. I’ve been compiling pictures from recent short trips and day trips to write a post on things to do in the summer. Hopefully, this post gives you a number of ideas so you can get planning on summer activities. Before we know it, Fall rolls around.

One of my favorite summer activities is just simply walking around a city or downtown area. One of my roommates reached out to me to stay at her friends apartment in Manhattan. So for a night we stayed in her super cute Manhattan apartment, ordered in food, and went out on the town at night.

The following day, we spent time walking around the city, taking pictures and getting brunch. It sounds like such a casual summer day/weekend but girls trips are the BEST. So yes, we got lucky for this girls trip that someone offered us their apartment for the night, but you don’t need that for a girls trip day/weekend. If you’re near a city, take the train in and just spend the day walking through parks, dining at some yummy restaurant finds (always check Pinterest for picture perfect spots) and talking with your girlfriends.

If you’re not close to a city, a fun thing to do in the summer is to go to a downtown area. Unless you’re living in the middle of nowhere, there is most likely a downtown area somewhere by you, look it up if you don’t know! Downtown areas are an amazing summer activity and a fun thing to do in the summer because there is most likely LOTS of shopping, (woohoo) good restaurants and bars. Going downtown is a great thing to do in either the day or night. It’s by far one of my top summer activities. Even if you don’t want to spend money, just getting outside, walking around and being with friends is fun and something to do in the summer.

When my best friends visited from Connecticut I had two plans in mind for the weekend that they came. One, was go to the beach (duh) and the other was to go downtown into Red Bank. It’s really one of the best summer activities because you’re out and about, unplugged from your phone and enjoying time with your girlfriends.

Summer concerts are another one of my favorite things to do in the summer. You can find small bars, amphitheatres or arenas by you that have SUPER cheap tickets or no fee at all. Even if you don’t know the artist or who’s performing, it’s a great night out with friends. I think you’re bound to have a good time when music is involved.

I hope this post gave you some ideas on things to do in the summer! Before we know it fall is here so get all your summer activities in now!

Tips on how to get an internship

I’m no expert and maybe I’ve just had luck…but I wanted to share with you what has helped me land two internships as an incoming junior in college.

I’ve interned as WTNH News 8 in New Haven, CT & currently, I’m interning at PIX 11 in NYC. Both internships have been very different from one another, but I know both will help me down the road and lead me to a job.

Hover over the graphic to pin it!

So how to get an internship? Well first off, I’ve tried really hard to apply myself in college. What I mean is that I’ve joind clubs & organizations on campus.

Being in a sorortiy can help someone network. Maybe your bigs, best friend’s cousin has the same major as you. So your big tells her best friend about you, who reaches out to her cousin. Now you’ve connected! All because you’re apart of a sorority on campus. Most internships you get are from connecting with people. The more you’re involved in, the better your chances of meeting someone with the same career interests as you are! So, that’s tip number one on getting an internship.

I’ve talked about my involvement with the schools television station, Q30, a lot. So this organization sort of mimics a television station and has a weekly newscast. For me, being in this organization has been super beneficial to my success. Not only have I connected with people, I’ve been able to get hands on experience in news. So when I have an interview with a potential employer, I walk them through what I do in Q30. They’re usually pretty impressed by a student run television station. I’d definitely say my involvment with this organization has helped me get an internship.

It’s a lot of work being involved in multiple organizations and clubs at school but it has enhanced my experience, my personal growth and has allowed me to connect with a number of different people. To balance all of this prioritize and try to do the most of what makes you the happiest. If you need to take a step back from something, take the step back. This is something I’ve struggled with and hope to get better at this year, I need to learn to sometimes take a breather. You only go to college once but you also want to make your college experience worth something, that’s why I sometimes over push myself (so bottom line, don’t over do it).

My next tip on how to get an internship is to go for things you wouldn’t expect yourself to get. WTNH said they’ll only take juniors and seniors in college, but I took a chance in applying and they took me! I didn’t think I’d get it, but I’m so happy I tried anyways…and look, I got it! That could happen to you too, so don’t doubt your abilities.

And, always treat everyone with kindness and compassion. A person you meet may be the one to help you when you’re looking for a job.

So these are my tips on how to get an internship:

  • Involvement in clubs and organizations

  • Getting first hand experience in an organization on campus related to your major

  • Prioritize

  • Apply and go for a position, even if your feel “unqualified”

  • Set goals

  • Lastly, treat everyone with kindness and compassion, they may be the help you need down the line

YOU GOT THIS.

Good things come to those who grind, I always tell myself how hard I work will pay off. Be a goal getter but a goal setter first. Figure out what you want and go get it.
